Tentative Tryout Dates for Upcoming 2017 SeasonPlayers and families, Sorry for the delay on distributing info about tryouts for the upcoming 2017 season tryouts. We are still working on finalizing all of the details with Frostburg State University, but the tentative dates are November 13th and 20th, back-to-back Sundays. As always, players are only required to attend one tryout.
Due to many circumstances, ASA has had to unfortunately downsize the teams we are offering. We hope this is only a minor bump in the journey of reaching our goals, but necessary for this upcoming season. We sincerely apologize to any players and families we have let down, and hope this does not discourage any player considering ASA in the future. A volunteer organization is hard to manage and recruit coaches to facilitate the growth we were experiencing and desire. The decision to make this change did not come easily. We are thankful for all of the individuals who have coached and volunteered as an administrator over these past years.
The Maryland State Youth Soccer Association has changed the way players' age is determined. It is now based off of their actual age instead of the calendar year.
The teams for this upcoming 2017 season are listed below with their coaches. The girls team(s) will be based on turnout but age ranges are listed below.
-U19 Boys (born 01/01/1998 or later): Adam Sommers
-U16 Boys (born 01/01/2001 or later): Bryce Sainz
-Girls (born 01/01/1998 - 01/01/2003): Donny Carter and Stuart Sommers
Once again, I apologize for the loss of the teams and it has been hard to come to the realization that the younger ages would not be involved this upcoming season. I strongly believe having the multiple ages was the strength of a club structure and creating an environment to develop youth players. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to the youth who would have been on the younger teams this 2017 season.
UPDATEASA just wanted to let everyone know that tryouts will be mid-November. Right now, the tentative dates are November 13, 2016 and November 20, 2016. We are working with FSU to finalize these dates. More information will be sent out as it becomes available.
We plan to offer the following teams but it all depends on the turnout. The girls will have one mass tryout to gauge the interest level of 14-18 year old players.
Girls will be based off turnout
Please forward to anyone interested.

2015 Season's Closing RemarksWith the Penn State 8v8 tournament closing our season, weve had some time to reflect on a landmark year for ASA. We played in a league for the first time, the Maryland Open Soccer League, and felt that it was a huge success for each and every one of our teams even with a few bumps along the way. We increased the number of kids in the club this year giving more kids in the area a chance to play soccer all year. As always, we presented ourselves with class and received nothing but praise for our actions throughout the club season from opposing players, coaches, fans, referees and tournament staff. We feel that we had another successful season to build upon and grow from seeing each and every player improve along the way. We want to wish our players that are going away to college the best of luck not just in soccer, but all future endeavors. Also, best of luck to the area high school players as many of you are about to tryout for your high school team, and hope for a successful and injury-free season. And of course, best of luck to all of the other youth players continuing their soccer careers this upcoming fall. We want to thank the players and parents without you, none of this would be possible. To the coaches: thank you for your countless hours of volunteering and dedicating yourself to helping players become not only better soccer players, but better boys and girls.
